Hands Off Syria! Campaign
Perhaps the most pressing issue confronting anti-war activists today is the ongoing war in Syria. POWIR has signed on the US Hands Off Syria Points of Unity put out by the United National Antiwar Committee and we maintain that the task before the anti-war movement in the US is to stop all US involvement (troops, funds, and weapons sales) in the Syrian conflict in order to promote peace and justice. Free Rasmea Odeh!
Palestinian-American activist Rasmea Odeh has been the target of the federal government for the last three years. POWIR has been at the forefront of the fight to drop all charges brought against this beloved hero in the movement. Close Gitmo Now!
For the last five years, POWIR has organized an annual national protest to close Guantanamo Bay outside of US Southern Command in Doral, Fl. Notable speakers at this event include Medea Benjamin of CodePink! and Andy Worthington of World Can't Wait. Read about our last year's protest here:

We oppose all occupations, sanctions, and interventions imposed on countries by the West and its economic institutions.
